Streater a "complete back" for explosive Irish

Camden Catholic coach Nick Strom says junior Nazir Streater is a "rare find" as a high school running back.
Not just because Streater has speed.
And power.
And can catch the football.
And is a willing blocker.
But because of all of the above.
"I compare him to (former Burlington Township standout) Mike Thomas," said Strom, the Irish's second-year head coach who previously was an assistant coach at Burlington Township. "He might not quite have Mike's top-line speed, but he's a complete back, and you don't see that in high school too much.
"He runs with good speed and he runs with power. He has vision and he has physicality."
The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Streater is off to a strong start in his first season as the Irish's regular running back.
He has carried 33 times for 297 yards and five touchdowns as Camden Catholic (2-0) heads into a home game with Woodrow Wilson on Thursday night.
"I got a lot of reps last year," Streater said. "But I'm a lot more confident this season."
Streater, who lives in Palmyra, credits his offensive line for his success. He's coming off the best game of his career after running for 207 yards and three touchdowns in a victory over Gloucester Catholic.
"I've been getting real good blocking," Streater said.
Streater is part an explosive Camden Catholic offense that features quarterback Tyree Rodgers, an Old Dominion recruit, and all-purpose standout Jamal Parker, among others.
The Irish have scored at least 32 points in 11 of their 12 games since the start of the 2014 season.
"It's an honor to be part of it," Streater said. "Just to contribute to us scoring a lot of points, having a high-powered offense, it means a lot to me."
