The No. 1 team in South Jersey will meet the No. 1 team in Southeastern Pennsylvania at 4 p.m. Saturday when Camden plays Imhotep Charter of Philadelphia at Woodrow Wilson.
Camden (11-2) is tops in the Inquirer's South Jersey Top 25. Imhotep Charter (18-2) is No. 1 in the Inquirer's Southeastern Pennsylvania rankings.
"It's going to be a phenomenal game for our guys," Camden coach John Valore said. "They (Imhotep Charter) are excellent. They are so athletic. They go 10 deep."
Imhotep Charter is the defending PIAA Class 4A state champion. Coached by Andre Noble, the Philadelphia Public League power is led by 6-foot-5 junior guards Donta Scott and Dahmir Bishop.
Scott has scholarship offers from Penn State, Temple, La Salle and St. Joseph's. Bishop has offers from the same schools as well as Rutgers and Seton Hall.
Imhotep Charter is No. 20 in MaxPreps' Xcellent 25 national rankings and has victories over North Jersey non-public powers Roselle Catholic and Gill St. Bernard.
Camden beat Westtown (Pa.), the previous No. 1 team in the Southeastern Pennsylvania rankings, 74-71, on senior Corey Greer's three-pointer at the buzzer Jan 20 at Lower Merion (Pa.) High.
Camden is led by Greer as well as senior forward Myles Thompson, a St. Francis recruit, and sophomore forward Lance Ware.
