Friday's South Jersey roundup: Borguet sets school record in Delsea win

Highlights from Friday's postseason action in South Jersey.

Aidan Borguet rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 4 Delsea to a 56-34 win on Friday night against No. 5 Ocean City in the South Group 3 quarterfinals. Borguet set new school record for single-season rushing yards with 1,883 on the season. Mason Maxwell rushed for two scores for the Crusaders. Issac Robertson finished the night with three rushing touchdowns for Ocean City in the loss.

Timber Creek 62, Seneca 31.

Devin Leary threw for three touchdowns and ran for one more as the Chargers defeated the Golden Eagles in South Group 3 quarterfinal action. Leary's third touchdown pass marked the 100th of his career. No. 1 Timber Creek faces No. 4 Delsea Nov. 17 in the semifinals.
Millville 20, Williamstown 14.

Clayton Scott scored on a 1-yard run in overtime to give the third-seeded Bolts the win against the sixth-seeded Braves. Millville blocked a potential game-winning field goal with under four minutes to play. The Bolts face No. 2 Rancocas Valley on Nov. 17 in the South Group 5 semifinals.

Haddonfield 17, Sterling 7.

Nick Patrizi rushed for two touchdowns and Henry Grozier made a 26-yard field goal to lead the sixth-seeded Bulldawgs past the third-seeded Silver Knights in the South Group 2 quarterfinals on the road. Haddonfield faces No. 7 Cinnaminson on Nov. 17 in the semifinals.

Rancocas Valley 57, Eastern 9.

Iverson Clement led the Red Devils with rushing touchdowns of 46, 71 and 2 yards. Bryce Mangene ran for the opening two scores as No. 2 Rancocas Valley routed No. 7 Eastern at home. Marc Sykes and Anthony Moses each rushed for a touchdown and Kyle Sapp returned an interception for the Red Devils.

Boys’ Soccer

John Strohlein scored a hat trick to lift Delran to a 4-1 win against Haddonfield in the South Group 2 championship match.

Sefa Gocmez scored the decisive penalty kick as Glassboro defeated Palmyra in a shootout, 4-3, to win the South Group 1 title for the first time in school history. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half after Gocmez set up Sinan Tuzcu for the opening goal of the contest. Tommy Shover found the equalizer in the second half for the Panthers. Griffin Rogers made four saves in the match and stopped Palmyra's final penalty kick in the win.

Conner Juckett and Jack Sarkos each struck for Mainland as the second-seeded Mustangs topped No. 1 Ocean City, 2-1, the the South Group 3 final. Dominic Bongiovanni and Patrick Turner both picked up an assist and Matt Stellitano made six saves in the win.

Mike Funaro scored the game-winner late in the first half to lift Washington Township past Rancocas Valley, 2-0. It is the fourth straight South Group 4 crown for the Minutemen.
