Tuesday’s Southeastern Pa. roundup: La Salle wins fourth consecutive PCL golf title

The La Salle golf team captured its fourth consecutive Philadelphia Catholic League Championship and 16th championship since 2000 on Tuesday. The Explorers ended with an overall score of 457, which was two strokes better than St. Joseph's Prep and 29 strokes better than Devon Prep. Ryan McCabe of Devon Prep shot an even-par 71 at LuLu Country Club to win the individual championship. Joe Morganti of St. Joseph's Prep finished one stroke behind McCabe. Luke Corcoran (La Salle), Matt Lafond (La Salle), Steve Lorenzo (La Salle), Chris Waldmann (Archbishop Carroll), and Andrew Koh (St. Joseph's Prep) tied for third with a 74.
Hallahan won the girls' championship (unopposed). Chaela Barnett from Archbishop Wood shot an 86 to win the individual championship.

Haverford School took first at the Inter-Ac Golf Tournament at Gulph Mills Golf Club. The Fords (180) finished three strokes ahead of Episcopal Academy.

Masterman won the boys' Public League title. The Blue Dragons' overall score of 369 was 90 strokes better than Central. Masterman's Luke Beggy shot an 81 to win the individual championship at Cobbs Creek Golf Club.
Boys’ Soccer
Jared Dillon and Eric Williams each recorded a hat trick to power Roman Catholic past Devon Prep, 6-3. The Cahillites improved their overall record to 12-0-1.

Aiden McShane scored late in the second half to send Father Judge past Archbishop Wood, 2-1.

Philip Burckhardt's header with 24 seconds left in the second overtime gave Springside Chestnut Hill a 3-2 edge over Penn Charter. Burckhardt finished with two goals.

Holy Ghost Prep remained unbeaten with a 9-0 win over Valley Forge Military Academy. The Firebirds are 9-0-1 and 8-0 in the Bicentennial League.

Girls’ Soccer
Regan Bentley and Shannon Remolde scored as St. Basil handed Little Flower its first loss of the season, 2-1. Little Flower had given up just one goal all season prior to Tuesday.

Boys’ Basketball
Westtown School's John Bol Ajak, a 6-foot-10 senior center, committed to play basketball at Syracuse on Tuesday. Ajak played for Church Farm, of the Bicentennial Athletic League, before transferring to Westtown before this school year. Bol Ajak also gave serious consideration to St. Joseph's and Virginia Commonwealth. George Washington and Pittsburgh were also among his finalists. Last week, Westtown point guard Jalen Gaffney committed to play at Connecticut. The 6-3 senior, a four-star recruit according to ESPN.com, chose the Huskies over Clemson and Florida, among others.
