Miles, Sargent place 21st in San Diego races

North Penn's Brad Miles and Pennsbury's Sara Sargent each finished 21st in their respective races at the Foot Locker National Cross-Country Championships yesterday in San Diego.

In the boys' race, Miles clocked 15 minutes, 45 seconds over 3.1 miles at Balboa Park.

"I was really looking forward to the race and this is not what I wanted," Miles said. "I was very comfortable in the first mile and was hanging between second and fourth. Then, I just don't know what happened."

In the girls' race, Sargent finished in 18:09.

"My goal was to finish in the top 15 and make all-American," Sargent said, "but I was only eight seconds behind, so I'm pleased."
