The combination of Sara McBride and Ali Karwoski has given Great Valley a pair of dramatic overtime victories in girls' lacrosse in a span of four days.
McBride scored her second goal of the game off an assist by Karwoski with 2 minutes, 1 second left in overtime as the Patriots edged Springfield (Delco), 11-10, in a PIAA state tournament quarterfinal game at Harriton on Saturday.

In other quarterfinals, Downingtown East earned a semifinal berth against Great Valley by dominating Cocalico, 19-4, at Governor Mifflin.
Emily Solenberger provided five goals and two assists, Ashley Pioli scored goals and assisted on two, Linnea Faccenda scored four times, and Nicole Barretta added two goals and two assists for the District 1 champion Cougars.

Barnes and Morello also assisted on three goals each, and goalie Katie Stroup made 11 saves.
