Council Rock North's Erica Herr successfully defended her PIAA District 1 golf championship on Wednesday by carding a 75 at Turtle Creek Golf Club for a two-day total of 143.

Herr, whose brother, Zach, also won the District 1 title for the second straight year, finished with a 7-stroke margin over runner-up Alex Liu of Lower Merion.

Radnor, with a team of Jamie Susanin, Allie Ziegler, Julie Curley, and Caitlin Sullivan, took the team trophy with a 342 total on Tuesday at Gilbertsville Golf Club.

The top eight finishers qualified for the PIAA Regional tournament on Monday.

Soccer

Council Rock North, ranked No. 2 in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer, beat rival and fifth-ranked Council Rock South, 1-0, for the second time this fall in the Suburban One League.

Kaitlin Hannagen scored on a breakaway with 15 minutes left and Helena Gemmell guarded the goal with seven saves for host North.

Hatboro-Horsham notched its 10th win, 3-0, at Central Bucks West as Sydney McNutt had a goal and an assist, and Tory Adlam and Kellie McGoldrick scored goals.

Nonleague. Archbishop Wood used three second-half goals to pull away from visiting Germantown Academy for a 4-0 win. Wood, ranked No. 10, got two goals from Kelsey Celline, and the defense allowed the No. 9 Patriots just one shot at goalie Deanna Messner.

Hill School outgunned visiting Princeton Day School, 7-5, as Mary Edwards scored three goals, Sara Graham had two, and Deana Mayza assisted twice.

Episcopal Academy returned from Pennington with a 1-0 win as Kristen Hinckley scored the goal from Meredith Manley, and goalie Ali Singley had a dozen saves.

Pioneer Athletic. Amanda Broderick's hat trick highlighted Methacton's 5-0 win at Pottstown.

Friends Schools. Nanci Selig scored twice and assisted on Cara Moschetti's two goals, fueling the Shipley offense in a 4-0 win at Abington Friends. Gators goalie Alli Kothari made seven saves.

Bicentennial. Shea Neal's two goals inspired Christopher Dock during a 5-2 success against visiting Lower Moreland.

Field Hockey

Cardinal O'Hara stayed unbeaten (6-0) in Catholic League play with a 7-0 win over visiting St. Hubert. Carlie Spaeder scored twice, and Grace Boston chipped in with a goal and an assist.

Suburban One. Rachel Valentine assisted Courtney Bradshaw's goal with 3 minutes, 6 seconds left as Souderton took a 2-0 lead and the Indians held on for a 2-1 win at Pennridge.

Wissahickon slowed host Upper Merion, 2-0, with goals off the sticks of Emily Gallagher and Zoe Kale.

Nonleague. Meg McCollogh assisted Mollie Getzfread's goal with 8:47 left in overtime as Plymouth Whitemarsh edged visiting Springfield (Montco), 2-1.

Germantown Academy, led by Catherine Perlmutter's two goals, scored three times before intermission and edged visiting Germantown Friends, 3-2.

Delco Christian's Anna Evans and Shipley's Ilana Wolfson traded goals in a 1-1 standoff at Delco.

Calli Kilmer scored Episcopal Academy's last two goals in a 3-2 victory over visiting Tower Hill (Del.).
