Tues. Pa. boys' roundup: Haverford School caps Inter-Ac sweep

The Fords (18-1 overall, 8-0 league) entered the game ranked No. 1 in the state by phillylacrosse.com. Episcopal (15-5, 4-4) is No. 5 in the state.

Will McNamara and Zach Rego aided the win with a pair of goals and one assist each. Goalie Jake Landman turned away nine shots. Haverford School held a 6-3 lead at halftime before entering the fourth quarter leading 7-6.

Trupert Ortlieb led the Churchmen with three goals.

Bicentennial. Holy Ghost Prep used five goals from Jeremy Omrod to roll over visiting Springfield (Montco), 15-5. T.J. Romano added two goals and three assists, and Michael Major scored twice with two assists.

Brian Van Wyk scored four goals and Jake Herrmann added four assists as host Interboro topped Pennridge, 11-9. David Hearn also scored four times and Shawn Lee secured the win with nine saves.

Friends Schools. Tucker Bentley scored his fifth goal of the game just 10 seconds into the third overtime and George School won at Westtown, 11-10.

Nonleague. Mac Gallagher scored his 100th career goal and Shipley downed host St. Andrew's, 10-6. Gallagher scored three times to increase his career mark to 101. Mattock Callahan scored twice and added two assists.

Baseball

Matt Rowland stole home in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Chestnut Hill walked off with a 7-6 win over visiting Haverford School in an Inter-Ac game.

The Blue Devils rallied for three runs in the inning. Pat Foley scored to make the score 6-5 and Sam Feirson singled in Matt Primavera to tie the game. Feirson finished 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Also in the Inter-Ac, Kenny Koplove struck out 10 as Penn Charter blanked visiting Germantown Academy, 2-0.

Del-Val. Interboro scored three times in the top of the 10th inning and defeated host Chichester, 7-4. Bob Barnett drove home Jake Dellipricoli with an RBI ground out to forge a 5-4 lead.

Public. Shafeeq Coleman was intentionally walked with the bases loaded for the third time this season, as Overbrook eased past host Mastbaum, 13-3. Coleman drove in five runs and scored three times. He also struck out 12 as the winning pitcher.

Nonleague. Sophomore Steven Cramer fanned four in five innings to pick up his first varsity win as Friends Select dropped visiting Community Academy of Philadelphia, 13-3. August Dichter went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a two-run homer in the first.

Tennis

Dash Brown's 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles set the tone for Pennsbury en route to a 4-1 victory over visiting Wissahickon in the District 1 Class AAA team quarterfinals. David Gross and Shawn Vadaketh teamed to win at first doubles, 6-2, 5-7, 10-7. 

District 12. La Salle's Brian Stefanowicz clinched a spot in the finals of the singles tournament with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Mike Proska of Monsignor Bonner at Awbury Park. The other semifinal was suspended because of rain.
