Spring-Ford, Villa Maria get No. 1 seeds in field hockey
Spring-Ford earned the top seed in the District 1 Class AAA field hockey tournament and will be one of four teams to receive a bye in the first round.

Also receiving byes in AAA are Central Bucks South, Wissahickon, and Unionville.
Mount St. Joseph's, the fifth seed, will be the top team to play on Monday when the tournament opens.
The Magic will host 28th-seeded Upper Merion. West Chester Henderson, the sixth seed, will host No. 27 Interboro, and No. 7 Haverford High will host North Penn.
In Class AA, Villa Maria finished as the top team and earned a first-round bye along with Upper Perkiomen, Springfield (Montco), and Phoenixville.
That tournament opens on Tuesday when fifth-seeded Gwynedd-Mercy hosts Pope John Paul II.
Merion Mercy, the sixth seed, will host No. 11 Sacred Heart, and No. 8 Christopher Dock will host ninth-seeded Lower Moreland.
