Fri. Pa. girls' roundup: North Penn edges Souderton in OT

Vicky Tumasz scored 16 of her 18 points in the second half to spark a rally, and North Penn received two free throws from Mikaela Giuliani in the final 10 seconds of overtime to defeat Souderton, 56-54, Friday night in a Suburban One Continental girls' basketball game.

Lauren Crisler led North Penn with 19 points. Bianca Picard had 17 to pace Souderton.

In another Suburban One game, Sajanna Bethea scored 23 points to propel Pennsbury to a 60-33 triumph over visiting Bensalem in a National Conference matchup. Ashida Copper had 15 points for the Owls.

Public. Catherine Meyers sank a three-pointer from the top of the key with seven seconds to play, rallying Bok to a 40-39 victory over Dobbins. Meyers scored a team-high 14 points.

Jaqueline Hagan scored 12 points and Lauren Willis chipped in 10 as Northeast won at home over Frankford, 38-18.

Haley Keller and Kelsey O'Connor each had 12 points in Philadelphia Academy Charter's 42-21 win at Carroll. Tina Beiland paced Carroll with eight points.

Kayla Thomas' 19 points and Delina Adams' 10 powered host Mastery North to a 51-42 triumph over Engineering & Science.

Host Communications Tech took down Randolph, 77-39, behind Bryce Garrett's 22 points and Khidijah Gardner's 21.

India Cauley, Ciani Cryor, Shamell Isles, and Martiana Wilson each scored eight points as Prep Charter won easily at Franklin Learning Center, 68-14. Isles, a 6-foot-2 freshman, also grabbed 10 rebounds.

Hajaaha Stevens poured in 18 points, and host High School of the Future held off visiting Science Leadership, 44-37. Dayona McNeil had a game-high 22 for the Rockets.

Aaliyah Thurman, a junior point guard who transferred in from Alabama, had 23 points and seven assists for Lincoln in a 35-29 triumph over visiting Olney.

Pioneer. Kelsey Watson, a 5-10 forward, totaled 28 points and 16 rebounds to power Methacton to a 57-39 victory over Owen. J. Roberts in the Pioneer Athletic Conference.

Nonleague. Megan McGurk (21 points, 5 assists) and Kathleen Fitzpatrick (16 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds) sent Notre Dame to a 56-44 victory over visiting Bonner-Prendergast. Alyssa Monaghan led three Pandas in double figures with 16 points.

Sox Alexander collected 13 points, five steals, and four assists as host Shipley topped Penn Charter, 48-29. Colleen Walsh added 11 points for the Gators. Hannah Fox had 14 for the Quakers.

Gianna Pownall scored 24 points and Julia Schumacher added 12 to help Springside Chestnut Hill defeat Friends' Central, 57-46. Maria Conyers-Jordan led the host Phoenix with 21 points and 11 rebounds, her fifth double-double in five games this season.

Swimming

Allegra Armstrong set a school record for Friends' Central in its 100-76 loss at Episcopal Academy.

Armstrong swam the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 17.83 seconds to surpass the mark of 2:18.63 set by Diane Chen in 2004.

For the victorious Churchwomen, Emma Vadot won the 100 and 200 freestyle and McKenzie Street captured the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke.
