Unionville, Henderson race to state titles

The West Chester Henderson boys' team placed two runners in the top 10 and the Unionville girls had three in the top 10, as both teams captured Class AAA team titles Saturday at the PIAA state cross-country championships in Hershey.

Tony Russell, a Henderson senior, won the boys' 3.1-mile race in 15 minutes, 49 seconds. Unionville senior Courtney Smith took second among the girls in 17:30.

Masterman placed second in the Class AA boys' race behind junior Julian DeGrott-Lutzner's second-place finish. Archbishop Wood finished second in the AA girls' race, and Megan Connell's 19:52 finish was the Vikings' best time.
