St. Joseph's Prep might have been hit harder by graduation than just about any other boys' basketball team in the area. But Chris Clover is doing his best to keep the Hawks among elite company.

Clover earned MVP honors Friday, leading St. Joe's Prep to a 50-43 win over Methacton in the Kobe Bryant Scholastic Play-By-Play Holiday Classic at Lower Merion.

Clover, a junior guard, scored 21 points, including a three-pointer with 1 minute, 32 seconds remaining to give the Hawks a 42-41 lead. He also had five rebounds. Kyle Thompson added 12 points and five boards.

St. Joe's Prep went 9 for 13 from the line in the fourth quarter and took advantage of eight Methacton turnovers in the period.

Zach Jenkins led Methacton (5-2) with 15 points.

The Hawks are 7-0 and ranked 11th in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer despite graduating two Division I players and their starting point guard.

Also at the showcase, Lazaros Mackrides' breakaway dunk in the third quarter punctuated No. 15 Abington's 64-41 victory over Friends' Central. Mackrides scored 13 points and hit three three-pointers. Amir Hinton scored 16 points.

Jonathan Lawton led Friends' Central with 24.

LENAPE HOLIDAY SHOWCASE

Archbishop Ryan 53, Lenape (N.J.) 46: Brendan Horan scored 22 and Austin Chabot chipped in with 16.

ROBERT HOPF TOURNAMENT

Franklin Towne Charter 56, Upper Merion 48: Ryan Boyd scored 21 points and Mike Kessler added 10 to lead the Coyotes in Jenkintown.

Jenkintown 58, MaST Charter 51: Ethan Goldman sank five three-pointers en route to 21 points to pace the hosts. Colin Mulvaney added 14 points, and Liam Mulvaney had seven points and seven rebounds.

BENEDICTINE CAPITAL CITY CLASSIC

Haverford School 49, Walsingham Academy (Va.) 48: Levan Alston Jr. hit a layup with .7 of a second remaining to lift the Fords in Richmond, Va. He scored 14 points, and Lamar Stevens had 13.

LOWER MORELAND TOURN.

Conwell-Egan 64, Northeast 43: Stevie Jordan scored 15 points and dished six assists. Vinny Dalessandro had 14 points and eight rebounds. LaPri Price scored 11.

ST. AUGUSTINE CLASSIC

La Salle 54, Camden Catholic 45: Shawn Witherspoon's 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists paced the Explorers in Richland, N.J. Dave Krompotich scored 15.

EPISCOPAL ACAD. TOURN.

Episcopal Academy 43, Del-Val Charter 41: Mike Jolaoso hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to lift the hosts. He scored nine points.

JACK SCHOTT TOURNAMENT

Conestoga 57, North Penn 56: The Pioneers rallied from 11 down with five minutes left to win at Holy Ghost Prep. Zach Yonda hit a three-pointer to put Conestoga ahead with about a minute left. Daryl Caldwell scored eight of his 19 points in the fourth.

Holy Ghost Prep 57, Halifax 28: Matt England scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half for the hosts.

WISSAHICKON HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT

Souderton 54, Wissahickon 51: Carter Knight scored 21 points, and the Indians held off a fourth-quarter charge from the hosts to capture the title. Chase Wilson scored 21 for Wissahickon.

WEST CATHOLIC CHRISTMAS CLASSIC

Abington Friends 52, West Catholic 46: Jordan Greene scored 14 of his 31 in the fourth quarter as the Kangaroos went on a 18-7 run.

STEVE JUENGER CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT

Haverford High 49, Devon Prep 31: Jimmy Roe scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half for the host Fords.

Academy Park 72, Bensalem 60: Jawan Collins had 23 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Lansdale Catholic 59, Truman 50: Kyle Pavlik's 25 points paced the Crusaders, who opened a 10-point lead in the first and cruised.

MARPLE NEWTOWN TOURNAMENT

Phoenixville 65, Delco Christian 54: DeAndre Gavsden's 17 points and nine rebounds topped a balanced effort for the Phantoms. Mike Anthony also had 17 points, and Eric Wallace scored 16.

Bishop Shanahan 67, Marple Newtown 63: Mike Booth scored 10 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, as the Eagles used a 25-12 spurt to rally past the hosts. Joe Lord added 13 points. Jake McGee led Marple Newtown, which led by nine entering the final period, with 20.

STRATH HAVEN CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT

Downingtown West 70, Pottsgrove 59: Sean Loerzel went 6 for 6 from the free-throw line in the fourth en route to 23 points. Ryan Betley scored 18 points, and Josh Warren had 16.

GREAT VALLEY TOURN.

Upper Dublin 57, Avon Grove 51: Simeon Fryer's 23 points carried the Cardinals.

Great Valley 53, Upper Moreland 25: Mikal Bridges' 15 points led a balanced effort for the fifth-ranked hosts.
