Pa. Girls: Wed. Pa. girls: Jenkintown repeats in Bicentennial

Jenkintown did not need to wait long to win another Bicentennial League girls' lacrosse title. Kourtney Walter and Emma Dorshimer each scored three goals as the Drakes captured their second consecutive league championship with a 17-5 victory over visiting Lower Moreland on Wednesday afternoon.

Sarah Rosenberg struck out 12 and walked four in a five-inning no-hitter to pitch Central past visiting Masterman, 5-0, in the Public League.

Gwynedd Mercy took the team title and swept the top three spots in the 200 meters, led by Rachel Koller's first place (25.85 seconds), at the Catholic Academies championships at Mount St. Joseph.

Nazareth's Karli Visconto won the 1,600 (5 minutes, 4.52 seconds) and the 800 (2:15.74).

Central. Garnet Valley's Gabby Irving (12.58) edged Ridley's Valerie McLaughlin (12.60) to win the 100 meters at Lower Merion. Haverford's Kaila Cannon cleared 17 feet, 3/4 inch to win the high jump and 35-4 to take the triple jump.

Public. Northeast held a commanding lead with 92 points after the first day at Johnston Stadium in Mount Airy. Ama Kwashie (long jump, 17-7), Tanise Edwards (triple jump, 36-51/2), Sullena Staton (discus, 96-5) and Tahira Vance (javelin, 108-4) won field events for the Vikings.
