Pa. Boys: Tues. Pa. boys: Holy Ghost's Cerbara earns region title
Steve Cerbara came out sizzling Tuesday at the Eastern Region Golf Championships and never let up. The Holy Ghost Prep junior birdied three of the first six holes at Golden Oak Golf Club in Fleetwood, Pa., en route to a 3-under-par round of 69. He was a 2-stroke winner over Mike Cook of Conestoga and Pennsbury's Vinay Ramesh in Class AAA.

Cerbara, a two-time District 1 champion, carded just one bogey. The top 24 finishers advanced to the state tournament, which will be held next Monday and Tuesday at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York.
New Hope-Solebury's Roland Massimino was the top area finisher in Class AA. His 74 was good for second place.
Soccer
Jack Braun's second-half goal gave Conestoga a 1-0 victory at Upper Darby and sealed the Pioneers' fourth Central League title in the last five years. Braun, a senior midfielder, beat the goalie to the top left corner from outside the penalty area. Will Smith recorded the shutout for Conestoga (11-3-3, 9-1-1).
Shea Morgan's goal 15 minutes into the second half lifted Penncrest to a 2-1 win at Marple Newtown. Ricky Vogler also scored.
Lucas Serlin made 13 saves to preserve Harriton's 2-0 defeat of visiting Springfield (D). Kyle Gaeffke scored both goals.
Riley Brown headed home a corner kick from Jaime Fisher late in Ridley's 2-1 triumph at Haverford High. Jason Hannigan had the other Green Raiders goal.
Inter-Ac. Springside Chestnut Hill rallied for two goals in the final seven minutes to beat host Episcopal Academy, 2-1. Blake Greenhalgh scored the go-ahead goal with 1 minute, 30 seconds remaining. Peter Davis also scored.
Ches-Mont. Michael Carrigan and Colin Deitch scored to boost visiting Great Valley over Coatesville, 2-0.
Kennett rallied for three unanswered goals in the second half to come away with a 4-2 win at Bishop Shanahan. Nick Brison, Sam Conrad, Griffin Dight, and Nicolas Meola scored.
Alex Andersen's hat trick carried Unionville to a 3-0 decision over visiting West Chester East. Henry Shafer made 10 saves.
Bicentennial. Jake Downs struck twice for Calvary Christian in a 3-2 defeat of visiting Devon Prep. Brett Kikendall added a goal.
Tri-County. Chris Morrell's two goals led host Mercy Vocational to a 3-1 victory over West-Mont Christian. Alan Palacios also scored.
Michael Zlotnick scored twice, and Barrack Hebrew downed visiting Collegium, 3-1. Noah Maltzman added another tally.
Tyler Veale scored twice to pace host Del-Val Friends to a 4-1 win over Kimberton Waldorf.
Public. Garneel Azor and Ade Solebo scored second-half goals to give Central a 2-0 win over visiting Palumbo.
Cross-Country
Germantown Friends runners swept the top three spots en route to victory at the Friends Schools League championship at Westtown. Nick Dahl won in 16:12. He was followed by Joe Newmann (17:21) and Grayson Hepp (17:27).
Water Polo
Magnus Sims scored the winning goal 1:03 into the first overtime, and Malvern Prep beat visiting Penn Charter, 9-8, to move into a first-place tie with the Quakers atop the Inter-Ac League. Malvern Prep goalie Patrick Coffey made 17 saves and had five steals.
