Pa. Boys: O'Hara wins with 2d-half rally

Cardinal O'Hara came roaring back in the second half to defeat the Cougars, 54-53, at Haverford High's Coaches vs. Cancer Play Day.

Liutauras Repsys, a 6-foot-10 junior center, made the second of two free throws with 2.6 seconds left to give the Lions their only lead. Ahmad Williams (12 points) tied it on a three-point play with a minute left.

Tip Schwartz scored 17 of his 21 in the second half.

Also at Haverford High, Marques Jackson's 13 points paced Bonner-Prendergast in a 34-28 defeat of Haverford High.

Inquirer/Philly.com Classic. Pete Gayhardt grabbed 19 rebounds to go along with his 12 points, and St. Joseph's Prep downed Abington, 62-45, at Lower Merion. Jake Henkels had 18 points and James McGovern had 11 and four steals.

Kobe Bryant Classic. Mike Jolaoso scored 25 points and had six rebounds and five steals to boost Episcopal Academy over Academy Park, 64-54.

Jimmy Murray scored 24 points and had six assists to pace Plymouth Whitemarsh in a 58-55 defeat of Friends' Central. Andre Mitchell had went 7 for 8 from the line en route to 21 points.

Varsity Club Tournament. Andrew Louden (30 points) went 10 for 12 from the line in the fourth as host Garnet Valley knocked off one of the top teams in Delaware, Polytech, 50-41.

Trojan Holiday Classic. MVP Evan Slone scored 15 points, and Souderton topped host Wissahickon, 45-40, in the title game. Tracy Simsick added 12 points.

Primetime ESCIT. Maurice Waters scored 18 points and had eight rebounds as Bartram beat Rancocas Valley, 59-57, at Trenton Catholic in the Frantz Massenat Bracket. Shawn Bailey had 13 points and nine assists.

Cactus Jam. Dan Villa's tip-in with 20 seconds left gave Conestoga the lead in a 54-49 triumph over Archbishop Spaulding (Md.) at Chandler Prep in Arizona. Villa, who scored 14 points, also iced it with two free throws. Daryl Caldwell scored 19.

Slam Dunk to the Beach. Quade Green scored 27 points and had six rebounds and four steals as Neumann-Goretti topped Gil St. Bernard's (N.J.), 59-50, at Cape Henlopen, Delaware.

Charm City Classic. Malik Jackson filled the stat sheet with 24 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals to power Penn Wood past Evangel Christian (Va.) at Park School in Baltimore. Addison Scott contributed 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists, and Calvin Melton had 10 rebounds.

Marple Newtown Holiday. Christian Kelly scored 19 of his 33 points in the second quarter to earn the MVP nod and lead Phoenixville past host Marple Newtown, 73-70, in the championship game. Nick Giordano also scored 33 for Marple Newtown.

Penncrest Holiday Tournament. Colin Costello scored 19 points to lead W.C. Henderson past Calvary Christian, 53-50, in a semifinal.

Benedictine Classic. Luke Conaghan's 27 points (9 for 15 from the field) and 10 rebounds helped Archbishop Wood beat Greenfield School (N.C.), 80-70, in Richmond, Va. Tyree Pickron scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds.
