Conwell-Egan cruises, Mastery North falls in Class AA quarters

Conwell-Egan continued its impressive run through the PIAA Class AA tournament, dispatching Mid-Valley, 72-56, Saturday in a quarterfinal matchup at William Allen.

Conwell-Egan continued its impressive run through the PIAA Class AA tournament, dispatching Mid-Valley, 72-56, Saturday in a quarterfinal matchup at William Allen.

Vinny Dalessandro scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds. Stevie Jordan added 16 points and 10 assists.

Chase Kumor and LaPri McCray-Pace had 11 points apiece.

Conwell-Egan (19-8) has beaten its three state playoff opponents - Camp Hill, Mahanoy Area, and Mid-Valley - by an average margin of 28 points.

In another Class AA quarterfinal, Loyalsock spoiled the chance for an all-District 12 semifinal by knocking out Mastery North, 76-67, at Central Dauphin East.

Mastery North trailed for most of the game, but used a 9-0 spurt to tie it at 54 late in the third quarter.

Loyalsock, however, dominated the fourth quarter, winning the period, 22-13.

Conwell-Egan and Loyalsock, the District 4 champion, will square off Tuesday at a site and time yet to be determined.
