Pa. boys and girls: Holy Ghost Prep wins state hockey crown

Nicholas Bohatiuk scored four goals and had an assist as Holy Ghost Prep captured the Pennsylvania Cup Class AAA ice hockey title Saturday by beating Canon-McMillan, 6-4, at Penn State.

Kyle Peters rounded out the scoring for the Firebirds, netting two goals in the second period. Peters also earned an assist on Bohatiuk's final score.

Pennsylvania Cup Class A Final. Brett Christie scored the go-ahead goal, and Michael Grande added two late goals to seal it as West Chester Rustin topped Mars, 5-2, to take home its second straight state championship.

Tommy Sloan, Kyle Thomas, and Eric Flynn each added a goal for the Golden Knights. Jason Grande made 41 saves.

Pennsylvania Cup Class AA Final. Ben Robertson's first-period goal was not enough for Downingtown East, as the Cougars fell to Erie Cathedral Prep, 3-1.

Field Hockey

John Tornetta stepped down Friday as Phoenixville's head coach after 17 years. He is the Phantoms' winningest coach with 194 career victories. Tornetta won a Pioneer Athletic Conference title in 1998, and made the district playoffs 17 times.
