Penncrest pitcher Matt Briner was his own best friend Tuesday in a Central League game against Harriton.

Briner knocked in a run while throwing a one-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over the visiting Rams.

Catholic League. Bill Matz struck out six over six innings, and Dino Cattai went 3 for 3 with an RBI as host St. Joseph's Prep beat Bonner-Prendergast, 3-1.

Nonleague. Malvern Prep swept a doubleheader, beating New York schools Pleasantville (9-2) and New Rochelle (12-4) in Fort Pierce, Fla. Shane Muntz had three doubles on the day. Tim Quinn drove in three runs against New Rochelle.

Archbishop Wood surged past host Shipley, 9-1. Sean Kelly went 3 for 3 with four RBIs in the win.

Boys' lacrosse

Radnor topped host La Salle, 9-7, behind three goals and two assists by Jack Norton. Clayton Proctor also chipped in with two goals.

Eric Haab scored four goals and had one assist as Episcopal Academy topped Hill School, 12-5, on the road.
