Archbishop Carroll's basketball team will likely go as far as Josh Sharkey will take it this season.

But that doesn't necessarily mean scoring.

Tuesday night, the 5-foot-10 senior point guard helped deliver an exquisite brand of team basketball in the Patriots' 79-56 win against visiting Bonner-Prendergast.

"We're all locked in," Sharkey said. "This year is probably one of the best teams we've had, chemistry-wise. We're all locked in, we're hungry and we want to win, so we do the little things to help each other."

Sharkey was everywhere in the Catholic League opener against the Friars.

The Samford recruit finished with 18 points, eight steals, eight assists, and five rebounds.

With the high-flying Derrick Jones now playing at UNLV, Sharkey has taken on more of a leadership role for the Patriots (6-0, 1-0).

"Over the summer I had a lot of talks with Coach Paul [Romanczuk] about just being a leader," Sharkey said. "I just try to work hard in practice and make sure I set a good example for the other guys, and just do whatever it takes to win."

At times that included deferring to the hot hand. Ryan Daly (Hartford) led Carroll with 24 points while John Rigsby added 19.
