Statewide Top Teams: C.R. North's McIlwain state player of the year

Council Rock North's Brandon McIlwain was selected as the Class 4A state player of the year by Pennsylvania football writers.

Council Rock North's Brandon McIlwain was selected as the Class 4A state player of the year by Pennsylvania football writers.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound senior and dual-threat quarterback scored 49 touchdowns on offense while leading the Indians to a 7-4 record and the Suburban One League Continental Conference championship.

McIlwain, who will enroll at South Carolina next month, carried 227 times for 1,545 yards and 31 TDs. Also a defensive back and punter, he completed 147 of 252 passes for 1,720 yards and 18 scores.

McIlwain was joined on the Class 4A all-state squad by tight end Cary Angeline and offensive lineman Mike Clark, both of Downingtown East; Upper Darby running back Isaiah Bruce; and Central Bucks East linebacker Jack Lamb.

The Class 2A all-state picks included Prep Charter defensive lineman Karamo Dioubate and three West Catholic players: defensive lineman Tymir Oliver, defensive back Craig Jones, and linebacker Amir Postley.
