Pa. Girls: Vaughn delivers at end for Friends' Central

Vaughn sent in the winning layup as time expired to lift the Phoenix to a 43-41 win over Holy Cross (Md.) in the Cardinal O'Hara Holiday Classic.

Vaughn finished with 11 points.

Iyanna McCurdy scored a team-high 19 points.

Also at Cardinal O'Hara, Mary Sheehan scored five of her 10 points in the first quarter of a 48-34 win for Cardinal O'Hara over Episcopal Academy. O'Hara is ranked No. 2 in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer.

Robert Hopf Memorial Tournament. Jenkintown's Amelia Mulvaney scored a season-high 18 points - including a nine-point first quarter - to lead the hosts to a 52-36 victory over Springfield (Montco). Caroline Arena added 10 points for the Drakes

Noelle Woodmen scored nine points for Upper Moreland in its 30-26 win over Sacred Heart. Jenna Getz added seven points.

West Chester Christmas Classic. Jade Young had nine points, five rebounds and five assists as Abington Friends dispatching Owen J. Roberts, 51-32, at West University. Alexa Middleton led the Kangaroos in scoring, posting 10 points.

Boardwalk Classic - Genny Farnan-Robinson Bracket. Mireyah Davis had 12 points and 10 rebounds to lift Penn Charter past Haverford High, 45-39, in the final at Wildwoods Convention Center. Hannah Fox had 12 points and six rebounds.

Over the River Tournament. Maggie Dougherty scored eight of her 10 points in the first and third quarters, as New Hope-Solebury downed Christian Academy, 31-22, at South Hunterdon.

Marple Newtown Holiday Tournament. Halle Robinson led the hosts with 10 points in a 41-36 win over Phoenixville.

Devon Adams and Courtney Warley led Bishop Shanahan to a 49-40 win over Norristown. The pair scored 10 points and 14 points, respectively.

Boyertown Holiday Tournament. Sam Brensinger scored 10 points and added six rebounds and three steals off the bench for the hosts in a 55-24 win over Daniel Boone. Ali Bauman scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Carolina Invitational. Natalie Kucowski's double-double led the way for St. Basil in a 49-31 win over Davy Crockett (Tenn.). Kucowski posted 18 points and 10 rebounds in Charleston, S.C.

Sierra DaCosta scored 19 points and Bionca Dunham added 15 points in Imhotep's 70-63 victory over Cal (S.C.).

Merion Mercy's Jada Smith posted 12 points in a 50-33 win over Porter Gaud.

Garnet Valley Varsity Holiday Tournament. Maddie Ireland totaled 25 points as the hosts cruised by Academy Park, 70-37. Ireland also added five steal and five assists. She is just 15 points shy of her 1,000th career point.

Abbey Shea scored seven points to lead West Chester Henderson to a 31-29 win over Archmere (Del.). Emma Bertrando and Jenna Maratea each scored six points.

The Rock Holiday Classic. Despite double-digit points from Erica DeCandido and Brigit Coleman, No. 6 Gwynedd Mercy fell to Whitmer (Ohio), 51-48, at Windmere Prep (Fla.).

William Tennent Holiday Classic. Kyla Gibson scored 24 points for the hosts in a 67-29 win over New Foundations. Kelly Scipione scored 13 points.

Downingtown West Holiday Tournament. Caitlin Clark scored seven points and added six assists as Notre Dame took down the hosts, 56-22. Amanda McGurk had seven points and four assists.

Diamond State Classic. Central Bucks East's Bridget Birkhead had 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists in a 50-9 win over Padua (Del.) at St. Elizabeth (Del.).

Suburban One American. Jessica Michael hit a pair of three-point buckets en route to 10 points as Upper Merion downed host Wissahickon, 47-34.

Nonleague. Ashley Jones scored a team-high 33 points to lead Cheltenham past Prep Charter, 68-37, at the Lenfest Recreation Center. Gabrielle Wright chipped in with 17 points.
