Prep's D'Andre Swift to play for U.S. national team

The postseason honors keep rolling in for St. Joseph's Prep running back D'Andre Swift. On Wednesday, a day after being selected as the Class 6A player of the year by Pennsylvania sports writers, it was announced that the 5-foot 9, 215-pound senior was selected to compete for the U.S. under-19 national team against Canada.

On Wednesday, a day after being selected as the Class 6A player of the year by Pennsylvania sports writers, it was announced that the 5-foot 9, 215-pound senior was selected to compete for the U.S. under-19 national team against Canada.

The first North American championship will be played at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., on Jan. 28.

Swift, who is bound for Georgia, will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 7 at San Antonio's Alamodome. The contest, featuring 90 of the best players in the country in an East vs. West matchup, will be televised live on NBC.

This season, Swift carried 149 times for 1,564 yards and 25 touchdowns as the Hawks went 14-0 and captured the PIAA Class 6A state title. He also made 21 catches for 405 yards and nine scores.
