Wednesday's Pennsylvania roundup: Council Rock North beats Central Bucks West in District 1 4A semifinals

The Council Rock North boys' soccer team outlasted Central Bucks West in penalty kicks to secure a spot in the District 1 Class 4A championship game.

The score was tied 0-0 after regulation and two overtime periods. CR North goalkeeper Ed Mancinelli made three saves in the shootout.

Chris Donovan recorded a hat trick as Conestoga booked its spot in the District 1 Class 4A final with a 3-0 win over Kennett.

The Pioneers, who won states last year, haven't lost a game since the 2016 district title game against West Chester Henderson.

Conestoga and CR North will play for the title Saturday night at Great Valley.

Girls' Soccer

Mac Mitchell scored in the 49th minute to give Spring-Ford a 1-0 victory over Neshaminy in the semifinals of the District 1 Class 4A playoffs.

Neshaminy applied heavy pressure in the final seconds, but couldn't put the ball in the net.

The Rams will play Pennsbury in Saturday's final at Great Valley. Pennsbury beat Owen J. Roberts, 2-1, in Wednesday's other semifinal game.

Veronica Hineman, Claire Matson, Jackie Hug, and Samantha Ciccarelli found the back of the net as Unionville took down Quakertown, 4-2, in a District 1 Class 4A playback game.

Kate Henesey scored two goals as Lansdale Catholic rolled to a 6-0 win over Benjamin Rush in the District 12 Class 3A final.

Sarah Cooney, Lauren Delpo, Sarah Fitzpatrick, and Delaney Molettiere also scored for the Crusaders, who claimed their fourth District 12 crown.

Conwell-Egan captured its sixth consecutive District 12 Class 1A title with a 3-0 victory over Philadelphia Academy Charter on Wednesday at Northeast High School.

Annie Corrigan, Alexandra Chalmers and freshman Julia McVey scored for the Lady Eagles. Maddy Terry picked up the shutout in net.

Field Hockey

Myra Granato recorded a hat trick as Central captured its first-ever Public League championship with a 4-0 triumph over Northeast. Loren Zalzman also scored.

Sammy Popper scored three goals as Germantown Academy defeated Hill School, 6-3. Colleen Carrigan, Maddi Ota, and Grace Pacitti also scored for the Patriots, who will play Springside Chestnut Hill in the quarterfinals of the PAISAA playoffs next week.

Girls' Volleyball

Marcela Rolon-Dow and Catherine Lucey-Warner led the way as Central defeated Palumbo, 3-0, in the Public League championship. Rolon-Dow had eight kills while Lucey-Warner recorded 15 assists.

Girls' Cross-Country

Mercersburg runners took three of the top four places to win the Mid-Atlantic Prep League championship at Peddie School. It was Mercersburg's first MAPL team title in any girls' sport.

Sophia Divone won the race with a time of 19 minutes, 3 seconds. Addie Geitner and Isabell Baltimore placed second and fourth, respectively, for the Blue Storm. The team finished with an overall score of 29.

Boys' Cross-Country

The Hill School captured the Mid-Atlantic Prep League title. Austin Vincent and Tucker Dunn finished fifth and sixth, respectively, the Blues.

Akshay Mody led Peddie School to a second-place finish by winning the race with a time of 16 minutes, 8 seconds.
