Friday’s Southeastern Pa. roundup: Abington stays unbeaten behind Gibbs’ hat trick

Reese Gibbs' hat trick helped the Abington boys' soccer team stay unbeaten with a 6-2 win against Upper Moreland on Friday. Jaeden Joyce, Jonah Lemmel, and Sean Touey added goals for the Ghosts, who improved to 4-0 with the victory.

Mohamed Coulibaly finished with a hat trick and assisted on two other goals as Roxborough defeated School of the Future, 6-1. Jacob Seitz added two goals for Roxborough and Sekou Robionson scored once.

Sidiki Fofana had a busy day, scoring twice and assisting on two other goals in Archbishop Ryan's 5-0 win against Bishop McDevitt. Ryan Hartigan and Dave Hoxalli also scored. Ryan goalkeeper Bryce Fadako had three saves in the shutout.

Spring-Ford blanked Methacton, 3-0. Brandon Duke and Evan Hang both had a goal and an assist. Colin Trainor scored the Rams' other goal.

Philip Burckhardt scored off an assist from Jack Leininger in the second half to give Springside Chestnut Hill a 1-0 win against Germantown Friends.

Kai Haynes' goal led Abington Friends to a 1-0 victory against New Foundations Charter. Miles Kurtz assisted on the Haynes goal, and Noah Mass made eight saves to record the shutout.

Josh Carboy, Keler Garcia Fuentes, and Matt Rosenfeld each scored two goals as Phoenixville defeated Pottstown, 11-0. Jefferson Zacarias, Ryan Cowan, Kyle Flick, and Clay Kopko also found the back of the net for the Phantoms. Dominic Sposato had two assists.

Noah Dias booted in the game-winner to give Lower Moreland a 2-1 overtime win against the Church Farm School. David Skingy also scored for the Lions.

Holy Ghost Prep took down Calvary Christian, 2-0, behind goals from Steffen Melekos and Tyler Weimert. Melekos and Ethan Ruppersberger had assists for Holy Ghost Prep.

Ethan Pace gave Pope John Paul II a 2-1 victory against Pottsgrove with his goal in the second half. Pottsgrove outshot the Panthers 14-2, but goalkeeper John Wagner made 13 saves to help deliver the win.

David Steinbech scored twice in the second half as La Salle took down Lansdale Catholic, 2-1.

Girls’ Soccer

Maggie O'Neil netted the game-winner as Hatboro-Horsham topped Wissahickon, 3-2, in overtime. O'Neil scored two goals for the Hatters, and Emily Thomas knocked in the other goal.

Gia Vicari scored four goals in Baldwin's 5-0 win against Friends' Central. Josie Stockett also scored for the Bears. Goalkeepers Simi and Rani Bleznak combined for Baldwin's third straight shutout to start the season.

Tamika Williams scored two goals and Danaisha Rivera added another score in Mastbaum's 3-2 victory against Dobbins Tech. Ceyonnie Creamer scored both goals for Dobbins.

Mariah Moore's two goals led the way in Freire Charter's 6-1 win against Frankford. Nayonni Bolden, Cierrah Jackson, Sabrina Miles, and Denasia Mitchell also scored.

Skylar Glass scored two times to push Pottsgrove past Pope John Paul II for a 2-1 win.

Diliana Alvarez, Francessca Huff, and Gara Speigght tallied goals as Bodine defeated Science Leadership Academy, 3-1.

Aviva Kosto scored the lone goal to give Lower Merion a 1-0 win against Agnes Irwin. Kosto has scored in each of the Aces' past two games.

Courtney Lawson , Madison Reehl, and Maggie Sell scored two goals each as Perkiomen Valley cruised to a 9-0 victory against Norristown. Nikkie Foller-Moll, Joanna Gorrell, and Kat Kelly also scored for the Vikings. Cassidy Polignano on three of Perkiomen Valley's goals.

Camryn Lexow notched a hat trick and Casey Touey added two goals in Abington's 8-1 win against Upper Moreland. Kayla Taylor, Elizabeth Tracey, and Kailey Horton rounded out the scoring for the Ghosts.

Ireland Smith tallied a hat trick and Alexis Abbott added a goal as Washington topped Kensington, 4-2. Brianna Cooper scored twice for Kensington.

Sophy Henisz and Dylan Ragas scored for Germantown Friends in a 2-1 victory against Hallahan.

Marisa Lobb's goal in the second half proved the deciding score in Cardinal O'Hara's 1-0 defeat of Delco Christian.

Field Hockey

Sarah Campbell scored two goals and assisted on another in Wissahickon's 4-0 win against Hatboro-Horsham. Grace Ball added one goal and two assists for the Trojans, and Hannah Havrilla scored once.

Emma van der Veen scored twice and Lilly Botta scored once as Agnes Irwin topped Cardinal O'hara, 2-2. Bottan and van der Veen also added assists for Agnes Irwin.

Garnet Valley's Kendall DiCamillo and West Chester Rustin's Christine Ditizio were the only scorers as the two teams tied 1-1 in overtime. Rustin goalkeeper Meg Hadfield turned in a terrific effort, saving 24 of the 25 shots that came her way.

Kelly Baittinger,  Maya Fulmer,  Ella Johnson, and Bryn Marcavage each scored twice in Perkiomen Valley's 14-0 win against Norristown. The Vikings also had goals from Bella Ricci, Jordyn Strong, Ashley Derrick, Julia Downing, Mackenzie Hanlon, and Emma Lafferty. Norristown goalie Basimah Curry saved 19 shots in the defeat.

George School freshman Sanaa Hebron scored a hat trick in her varsity debut as the Cougars defeated Conwell-Egan, 8-0. Eva Kinnel added two goals for the George School, while Annie Borovskiy, Cosima Janssen, and Izzy Robinson-Cloete each scored once. Goalie Vanessa Baker made five saves in the shutout.

Kennedy Reardon tallied two goals and an assist in Plymouth Whitemarsh's 4-0 win against Springfield (Montoco).  Ava Borkowski and Molly Lynch also scored for the Colonials, while Kayla Link added an assist.

Taylor Spoerl led the way with five goals as Jenkintown took down Bristol, 10-0. Mia Kolb, Rose McCafferty, Rory Strohm, Cady Westkaemper, and Mei Whitney also scored.

Dock Mennonite took down Morrisville, 9-0. Kate Strickland had a hat trick and Macy Balmer and Elle Bergey added two goals each for Dock. Savahn Derstine and Kylie Godshall rounded out the Pioneers' scoring.

Riley Simon scored two of her three goals in the second half to help Pottsgrove earn a 4-2 victory against Pope John Paul II. Lydia Mace scored the Falcons' other goal.
