Monday's Pa. roundup: Roman Catholic beats La Salle

Seth Lundy netted 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Roman Catholic boys' basketball team past La Salle, 65-62, on Monday. Hakim Hart's steal and layup gave the Cahillites a 63-62 lead with 30 seconds to play. After the Explorers missed a three-pointer, Roman Catholic's John Kelly made two foul shots with 1.2 seconds left.

Gabe Bryant finished with 19 points and Barrack Hebrew outlasted AIM Academy, 60-57, in overtime. Ben Bernstein had 17 points for Barrack Hebrew, which made six foul shots in the extra session.

AIM Academy outscored Barrack Hebrew, 18-4, in the third quarter to take a 40-38 lead. Tyler Sklut, who ended with 10 points and 18 rebounds for AIM Academy, made two foul shots with 14 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. Larry Pear recorded 18 points in the defeat.

Anthony Brown and Tyler Spann had 24 and 18 points, respectively, as String Theory used a strong second half to beat Fels, 74-62. Kylil Turner added a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Jambi Odumosu collected a double-double with 22 points and 26 rebounds as New Foundations held off KIPP DuBois, 77-63. Noah Lindsey added 18 points.

Girls' Basketball

Asia Abram scored her 1,000th career point in Overbrook's 44-15 victory over School of the Future. Abram and Kaniyah Scantlebury each had 10 points on Monday.

Cassandra Colon and Latifah Cain combined for 49 points as Mastery South took down Prep Charter, 68-49. Nayyirah Neal finished with 26 points to reach 1,000 for her career.

Sacred Heart Academy cruised past Calvary Christian, 58-23, thanks to a career-high 30 points from Eileen Piombino.

Thays Torres led with 30 points in Edison's 59-49 win over Paul Robeson. Delylah Serrano added 21 points.

Alexis Lin and Bene Butler recorded 14 and 13 points, respectively, as Central beat Constitution, 56-21. Central outscored Constitution by a 35-5 margin in the second half.

Boys' Track

Dock Mennonite's Austin Kratz came very close to breaking a Pennsylvania state record over the weekend. The senior took first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.23 at the Ocean Breeze High School Invitational in Staten Island, New York. That time is just .01 off Brady Gehret's state record in the 200 meters. Gehret of Altoona Area ran 21.22 in 2010.
