Sunday's Pa. roundup: St. Joseph's Prep's Speedy Morris inches closer to 1,000 career wins

Speedy Morris earned the 999th win of his coaching career Sunday when St. Joseph's Prep beat Archbishop Ryan, 54-44. Morris, who previously coached at Roman Catholic and La Salle University, will have a shot at his 1,000th win Friday afternoon against Lansdale Catholic.

Darius Kinnel led all scorers with 22 points for the Hawks. Kyle Thompson added 14 points in the win.

Austin Laughlin scored a team-high 21 points as Garnet Valley topped Springfield (Delco), 68-55. Connor O'Brien had 15 points for the Jaguars.

Isaiah Wong recorded 15 points and five rebounds as Bonner-Prendergast upended Bishop McDevitt, 49-37. Ajiri Johnson had 13 points and six points for the Friars.

Steve Payne finished with 27 points in Lower Merion's 87-76 triumph over William Allen. Jack Forrest and Zack Slogoff added 16 and 15 points, respectively, for the Aces.

Girls' Basketball

Nicole Kaiser scored a team-high 12 points for Upper Dublin as the Cardinals fell to Lancaster Catholic, 49-41, in triple overtime. Kiki Jefferson poured in 25 points for Lancaster Catholic.

Wrestling

Nick Senderling won all four of his matches in the Anthracite Duals at Panther Valley High School as he became the ninth wrestler in Wissahickon school history to reach 100 wins. Senderling is 14-0 on the season and has a career record of 102-22.
