Saturday’s S.J. roundup: Jada Byers’ huge performance carries No. 1 St. Joseph

Jada Byers built on his six-touchdown performance from a week ago with 281 yards on 26 carries and five more rushing touchdowns Saturday to carry the Inquirer's No. 1 ranked St. Joseph football team over Millville, 34-6. Byers' touchdown count is up to 11 in two games this season and accounted for all five scores for the Wildcats, with his longest runs coming from 49- and 39-yards out.

Nick Kargman threw for a school-record 456 yards and a South Jersey record of eight touchdown passes as Woodrow Wilson rolled to a 62-6 victory over Camden Catholic. Stanley King had 13 receptions for 233 yards and three touchdowns for the Tigers.

Brian Cooey hooked up with Dave Green on an 18-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter that gave Highland a 14-6 triumph over Clearview. Cooey scored on a 5-yard run in the third quarter to give the Tartans a one-point lead.

Big play of the night: Nick Arcarolli’s 88-yard touchdown pass to Jesse Filkill highlighted a three-touchdown as Cherry Hill West knocked off No. 19 ranked Pennsauken, 23-13. Arcarolli had a rushing score from a yard out and connected with John Ioannucci on a 29-yard strike.

Elijah Gray's 2-yard rushing touchdown with more than a minute remaining lifted Holy Spirit over Eastern, 30-22. Gray finished the game with 35 carries for 227 yards and three touchdowns. Ryan Yost ended the game going 13-for-22 for 200 yards and a 25-yard touchdown pass to Ahmad Brown.

Dashaun Harris racked up 25 carries for 279 yards and four touchdowns as Gloucester Catholic defeated Robbinsville, 47-20. Conor Regan chipped in a 1-yard touchdown run and a 33-yard interception return for the Rams.
