Here are 10 games to watch this weekend in South Jersey football:

Friday

No. 10 Timber Creek (2-2) at No. 18 Millville (2-3), 6: This WJFL Continental clash has major implications for both teams in the division race and in jostling for playoff position.

The visiting Chargers will look to bounce back from a tough loss to school-district rival Highland on Friday night. If that postgame sight of Highland sophomore RB Johnny Martin planting the Tartans' flag at midfield on the Chargers' turf doesn't motivate Rob Hinson's gang to get back to the business of winning, then nothing will.

Timber Creek, still very much a team to watch in South 3, has playmakers led by outside threats Jayvin Little and Tarheeb Still, whose 96-yard fumble return for an apparent go-ahead score in the final minutes of that wild game vs. Highland was nullified by a penalty.

Millville has bounced back in a big way from an 0-3 start against daunting competition. The Thunderbolts are angling for a berth in the South 4 tournament, where they likely would project as one of the favorites. Quarterback Eddie Jamison and wideout Solomon DeShields have been players to watch for Millville.

No. 5 St. Augustine (3-2) at No. 11 Rancocas Valley (3-1), 7: This WJFL American clash of top teams will go a long way in the shake-out of the division race and has major playoff and Top 10 implications, too.

St. Augustine is 2-0 in the division, tied with No. 3 Williamstown. The Hermits are coming off a big win over Ocean City, as freshman RB Nasir Hill scored a pair of TDs.

St. Augustine's strength has been its defense, led by linebackers Joe Bonczek, a Princeton recruit, and Shane Quast as well as cornerback Jaylen DeCoteau, a Kent State recruit.

Rancocas Valley is 1-1 in the division, with a loss to Williamstown. The Red Devils are led by quarterback Bryce Mangene, a run-pass threat, and all-purpose standout Danny Kondras.

RV is looking to strengthen its case for a good seed in the South 5 field. A victory over a non-public power program such as St. Augustine will go a long way for the Red Devils.

No. 15 West Deptford (3-1) at No. 1 Haddonfield (5-0), 7: No. 1 Haddonfield gets an immediate challenge from its fiercest rival in a WJFL Colonial clash between teams that met in last year's South Jersey Group 2 final.

The amazing thing about Haddonfield's win over then-No. 1 St. Joseph on Saturday was how un-amazing it was. The Bulldawgs didn't need big plays on offense or defense or momentum-changing moments on special teams. They were methodical. They were steady, solid, and superior.

"They were a lot better than us today," St. Joseph coach Paul Sacco said.

The challenge now for the Bulldawgs is to put the biggest win in recent program history in the rear-view mirror. Senior leaders such as Gabe Klaus and Jay Foley will stress the point. The arrival of the team in green should help Haddonfield regain its focus, too.

West Deptford stumbled a bit out of the gate with a loss to Paulsboro on opening night, but the Eagles have regained their footing, winning three in a row. Seniors such as Jason Collier, Kenny Lim and T.J. Hoyt, among others, know how much a win over Haddonfield – especially this season, with the Bulldawgs sitting at the top of the rankings – would do for the program in the first season under new coach Jason Morrell.

Kingsway (3-2) at Hammonton (2-3), 7: This WJFL Royal game matches two teams looking to push into prominence.

Hammonton's three losses have been to top teams in Long Branch, Timber Creek and Holy Spirit. The Blue Devils have an emerging star in sophomore Jaiden Abrams, who ran for 288 yards and 2 TDs in a win over Shawnee and 294 yards and 4 TDs in last weekend's win over Absegami.

Kingsway is coming off a rousing win over Pennsauken. The Dragons got a 96-yard punt return for TD by A.J. Butler to spark a 21-point explosion in the game's final 6 minutes, 18 seconds.

Clearview (2-1) at No. 9 Burlington Twp. (4-0), 7: The visiting Pioneers have quietly put together a strong start to the season, with the lone setback in a close game vs. new No. 7 Highland. Clearview is coming off a big win over Mainland as the Pioneers rallied from a 14-point deficit in the second half. Quarterback Mike Ancona ran for a score and passed for another to help spark the rally.

Burlington Twp. has long been known for its offense. But this season, the Falcons have allowed just 23 points in a steady march to what should be a high seed in the South 3 tournament. Quarterback Don Grozozski and all-purpose standouts Tyrese Ware and Omar Rogers are among players to watch for BT.

Washington Twp. (2-2) at No. 8 Holy Spirit (3-1), 7: The Minutemen are coming off a victory over Egg Harbor Township that knotted their record at the .500 mark. Andrew Nocile and Roger Baldacci scored second-half TDs for Washington Twp.

The Minutemen will face a big challenge in this Royal Division game. Holy Spirit has playmakers such as back Eli'Jah Gray, all-purpose Ahmad Brown, and quarterback Ryan Yost, among others. The Spartans are angling for a high seed in Non-Public 2, where they likely will see rival St. Joseph at some point in the tournament.

Saturday

Glassboro (3-0) at No. 22 Salem (3-1), noon: The visiting Bulldogs are off to an impressive start under new coach Tim Hagerty, but this Diamond Division game will mark their biggest challenge to date. Glassboro has playmakers such as Dymeir Still, Greg Bracket and Isom Golden, a top two-way athlete who missed all of last season with a serious knee injury. Quarterback Gavin Shields is a player to watch, as well.

Salem has won three in a row since a season-opening loss to Conwell-Egan (Pa.). The Rams have scored 164 points in those three games, too, behind quarterback Jamael Bundy and wide receiver Ja'yon Mejias. Bundy threw five TD passes, two to Mejias, in a big win last weekend over Overbrook.

No. 19 Shawnee (2-2) at No. 3 Woodrow Wilson (5-0), 2: No team has been able to slow the host Tigers, who have scored at least 36 points in every game behind quarterback Nick Kargman and wide receiver Stanley King.

Kargman already has thrown for more than 2,000 yards and 26 TDs. That's a great season for most quarterbacks, and he's played in only five games. King, a Louisville recruit, caught nine passes for 253 yards and 3 TDs last weekend vs. Seneca – the fifth-highest, single-game yardage total in South Jersey history, per stats maven Chuck Langerman.

Shawnee likely will look to mix up coverages, alternating blitzes with crowded zones, and attempt to control the clock on offense. The Renegades' Joe Dalsey is coming off a big game with four rushing TDs and two passing TDs in a win over Moorestown.

Cumberland (0-5) at Cherry Hill East (0-4), 2: Both teams will be looking to secure their first win in this National Division game.

Cumberland is coming off a tough overtime loss to Bridgeton. Jaymere Bunton is a player to watch for the Colts.

CHE suffered a difficult loss last week to Princeton as the Cougars were tied with the Little Tigers, 14-14, in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Mitch Donovan has been a playmaker for CHE, which has lost 32 in a row.

Woodbury (3-0) at No. 14 Paulsboro (4-1), 2: These old rivals always seem to meet with the division title and seeding in South 1 at stake, and this year is no different. These teams loom as the top contenders in the WJFL Memorial, although 3-0 Gateway hopes to push into the mix.

Woodbury has been led by quarterback Andre Parker, a run-pass threat. Ty'Shawn Smith, who ran for two TDs in a win vs. Pennsville, is another player to watch.

Paulsboro quarterback Nick Pellegrini has thrown six TD passes in the last two games, both lopsided victories. The Red Raiders have a top defense as well, led by cousins Santino and Anthony Morina.
