Thursday's Pa. roundup: Walter Hester lifts Paul Robeson over Kensington

Walter Hester had 24 of his career-high 28 points in the third quarter as the Paul Robeson boys' basketball team beat Kensington, 73-32, on Thursday.

Hester made a trio of three-pointers and went 7-for-7 from the foul line in the third period. The 24 points was a school record for points in a quarter.

Devon Ferrero ended with 12 points as Archbishop Carroll cruised past a Sam Sessoms-less Shipley team, 71-39, at Bishop McDevitt. Justin Anderson and Keyon Butler added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Sessoms is expected to miss two weeks with an MCL sprain. He averaged 25.3 points over the first six games of the season.

Senior Korey Stewart had 29 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks, and four steals to lead Masterman past Tacony Charter, 66-61. Stewart returned to the lineup after missing the first few games with a broken finger.

Jack Clark filled the stat sheet with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists as Cheltenham took down Springfield (Montco), 99-60. Amir Lewis had 25 points.

Tyler Norwood led with 29 points as Penncrest defeated Springfield (Delco), 65-38. Matt Arbogast added 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Malcolm Williams limited Springfield's Mike Webb to just seven points.

Tyrae Green and Dahmir Fowlkes each scored 24 points as Bartram held off  Boys' Latin, 81-67. Fowlkes added 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Nasir McCrae-Dixon recorded 19 points, 12 rebounds, and six blocks in Motivation's 56-53 win over Palumbo. Kader Dembele had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Parkway Northwest rolled past Roxborough, 76-57, behind 19 points from Marquis Moore. Adam Henderson ended with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Anthony Freeman notched 17 points and 11 rebounds in Dobbins' 54-42 triumph over KIPP DuBois. Jymir Thompson added 14 points, seven rebounds, and five steals.

Mustapha Abdullah and Devonte Taylor had 21 and 19 points, respectively, as School of the Future took down Freire Charter, 70-66. School of the Future improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in league play.

Cliff Walker scored 14 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter as String Theory beat Strawberry Mansion, 84-75. Tyler Spann added 22 points and Kylil Turner ended with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Jahi Randall's 24 points propelled Lincoln past Southern, 94-65. Khalif Mears finished with 11 points and seven steals.

Kwand Lang Jr. had 16 points to lead Central to a 42-38 win over Northeast. He made 12 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Chichester got 21 points and seven rebounds from DaQuan Granberry in a 75-50 victory over Brandywine.

Girls' Basketball

Molly Masciantonio recorded 12 points, six assists, and three steals in Archbishop Carroll's 48-30 victory over Episcopal Academy. Erin Sweeney added 16 points.

Maggie Pina poured in 20 points and dished out seven assists as Notre Dame got past West Catholic, 55-48. Mandy McGurk had 19 points.

Jabria Ingram finished with 16 points as Neumann-Goretti beat Myrtle Beach, 50-43, at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach. Tatiana Jones added 11 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals.

The Saints started the tournament with a 60-52 overtime loss to Georgia's Winder Barrow on Wednesday. Neumann-Goretti plays Norcross of Georgia on Friday.

Julia Smith scored all 16 of her points in the second half to lead Boyertown past Owen J. Roberts.

Anna Camden had a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds to guide Shipley past Agnes Irwin, 62-19. Sanaa Redmond added 18 points and five assists.

Marissa Coco led with 30 points and 12 rebounds as String Theory defeated Penn Treaty, 47-34.
