Jake Grossman scored late in the second half as the Harriton boys' soccer team took down Holy Ghost Prep, 3-2, in the semifinals of the District 1 Class 3A playoffs on Tuesday.

Ethan Rodgers and Serhat Sakarcan also scored for the Rams, who will play Bishop Shanahan in Thursday's final at Methacton.

Johnny Lenart netted two goals as Shipley won its ninth Friends Schools League crown with a 4-1 triumph over George School. Griffin Gallagher and Brian McDaid had one goal apiece and Ronan Higgins added two assists.

Episcopal Academy received goals from Gabriel Furey, Declan McCarthy, and Sam Wilson in a 3-1 victory over Springside Chestnut Hill. The Churchmen improved to 19-2-1 on the season.

Jude Shorr-Parks scored the lone goal in Penn Charter's 1-0 win over Inter-Ac League foe Malvern Prep. Kyle Earley picked up the shutout in net.

Girls' Soccer

Halle Brown and Emma Diaz scored as Westtown won its first-ever Friends Schools League title with a 2-0 victory over Shipley in the championship game.

Sara Oswald added two assists and goalkeeper Natalie Neumann recorded another shutout, the fifth straight for Westtown.

Freshman Emily Ellis and Emily Coe controlled the center of the field while senior Val Thomson, Alexandra Lewis, and Madelyn Boctor held down the backline.

Westtown lost to Shipley in last year's title game.

Maddie Jiminez scored a pair of goals to lead Villa Joseph Marie past Lower Moreland, 3-1, in the District 1 Class 3A semifinals.

Jillian Hunter also scored for the Jems, who will play Penncrest in Thursday's final at Methacton.

Emily McNesby netted two goals as Springside Chestnut Hill blanked Agnes Irwin, 3-0. Nayah Moore scored the other goal.

Field Hockey

Adele Iacobucci and Emily Doyle each scored three goals as Villa Maria rolled past Upper Perkiomen, 11-1, in the semifinals of the District 1 Class 2A playoffs.

The Hurricanes will do battle with Mount St. Joseph, which beat Great Valley, in Saturday's final at Methacton.

Downingtown West will face Conestoga in the District 1 Class 3A championship game on Saturday. The Whippets held off Central Bucks East, 3-1, while the Pioneers cruised past Owen J. Roberts, 6-0.

Mel Dunton scored late in the second half to give Central Bucks South a 1-0 win over North Penn in a District 1 Class 3A playback game.

North Penn almost tied things up but Bri O'Donnell's shot hit the post.

The Titans, who upset Methacton in the second round, secured a spot in states with Tuesday's victory. CB South will play Unionville, which defeated Haverford High, for fifth place on Friday.

Casey Lam had two goals to lead Friends Select past George School, 3-2, in the Quaker Cup final. Izzy Ebede also scored for the victors.

Sydney Wolfington had one goal and two assists as Agnes Irwin defeated Springside Chestnut Hill, 3-0. Emma Macaione and Grace Weise also scored.

Girls' Tennis

Renna Mohsen-Breen helped Moorestown Friends beat Shipley, 3-2, for the Friends Schools League title. Mohsen-Breen won her singles match to finish the season with a personal record of 26-1. Her only loss came at the hands of Tess Fisher who won the state singles crown.
