The Philadelphia Passion didn't play up to their tough Philly reputation Friday night, getting pushed around by the Miami Caliente in a 37-26 loss at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton.
The girls of South Beach outmuscled the Passion defense, gaining 189 yards on the ground and rushing for five touchdowns. The Passion had no answer for bruising Miami running back Kiki Toombs, who ran for 163 yards to set an LFL record and spoil Philadelphia's Lingerie Football League home opener.
The Passion offense, meanwhile, turned the ball over three times and struggled to get anything going in the passing game. Coming off a strong performance in the Passion's season-opening win over the New York Majesty, quarterback Jackie Danico was just 3-of-7 passing for 18 yards against Miami and was picked off twice.
The bright spot for the Passion was once again tailback Tyrah Lusby and the rushing attack. Lusby led the Passion with 95 yards on 14 carries, pushing her season total to 160 yards after two games.
The loss dropped the Passion into a tie with Miami for second place in the Eastern Conference at 1-1.
The Passion are now off until December 11 when they play host to the Tampa Breeze. Philadelphia closes out the regular season the following week with a road game against the Chicago Bliss.
The Lingerie Football League is a spin-off of the popular Lingerie Bowl, an annual pay-per-view diversion from the Super Bowl halftime show. The LFL plays a 7-on-7 format on a 50-yard field. The indoor league features 10 teams in two conferences.
