Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

The IronPigs powered past the Gwinnett Braves, 11-7, to complete a four-game sweep at Coolray Field in Gwinnett, Ga.

Left-handed starter Greg Smith (3-0, 2.27 ERA) put his team in an early 2-0 hole, but the offense was able to hand him the victory. Smith allowed three runs on 10 hits and four walks over seven innings. He struck out three.

The IronPigs blasted four home runs in the win. Left fielder Tyler Henson hit two, including a grand slam, while catcher Koyle Hill and first baseman Jim Murphy had one.

Henson (4-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and seven RBI) and Murphy (2-for-4 with a run scored, a walk and three RBI) had the only multi-hit and multi-RBI games.

The win lifted the IronPigs over .500 at 15-14 on the season. Next up for Lehigh Valley is a four-game series with the Charlotte Knights on the road. Righty Barry Enright (0-2, 5.16 ERA) is scheduled to start the opener.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double A

The Fightin Phils routed the Harrisburg, 15-2, at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, Pa.

The offense recorded 18 hits and drew three walks in the win. Five Reading hitters knocked in multiple runs: Third baseman Cesar Hernandez (2-for-5 with a run scored, a walk, two RBI and two strikeouts), first baseman Cam Perkins (2-for-6 with a run scored and two RBI), left fielder Aaron Altherr (2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI), catcher Tommy Joseph (4-for-5 with a home run, a triple, two runs scored, three RBI and a strikeout) and shortstop Edgar Duran (3-for-5 with a triple, a double, two runs scored and three RBI).

Left-handed starter Jesse Biddle (3-3, 3.43 ERA) delivered seven strong innings and picked up the win. He gave up two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out six. Biddle was also tagged for a solo home run.

The Fightin Phils improved to 14-12. Reading will now host the Portland Sea Dogs for a three-game set. Righty Mike Nesseth (0-1, 7.88 ERA) is slated to start the opener on Monday.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

The Threshers were beat by the Brevard County Manatees, 11-5, at Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Fla.

Right-handed starter Miguel Nunez (1-3, 6.89 ERA) struggled and suffered the loss. He surrendered eight runs on nine hits and a walk over 4 2/3 innings. He served up three home runs.

The Threshers could only muster six hits in the loss, highlighted by first baseman Art Charles (1-for-3 with a run scored, two RBI and a strikeout) and designated hitter Gabriel Lino (1-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two strikeouts).

The loss dropped the Threshers' record to 5-22. The series continues Monday as Clearwater turns to southpaw Ethan Stewart (1-2, 3.18 ERA).

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

The BlueClaws won a wild game against the Asheville Tourists, 14-11, at McCormick Field in Asheville, N.C.

Every player who appeared in the game recorded a hit. Only two players failed to score.

Five BlueClaws hitters hit a home run in the win: shortstop J.P. Crawford (4-for-5 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk), right fielder Dylan Cozens (3-for-4 with a run scored, three RBI, a walk and a strikeout), first baseman Willians Astudillo (3-for-6 with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBI), second baseman Andrew Pullin (3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI) and left fielder Samuel Hiciano (2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI).

Right-handed starter Alejandro Arteaga (3-3, 7.94 ERA) earned the win, giving up six runs on seven hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings.

The BlueClaws are now 12-17 on the season. Righty Mark Leiter (3-2, 3.62 ERA) takes the hill for Lakewood in the finale on Monday.
