Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A
The IronPigs outlasted the Charlotte Knights, 3-2, in 11 innings at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, N.C.
The teams traded runs in both the second and sixth innings, so the game needed to be settled in extras.
In the second, designated hitter Steve Susdorf singled and scored on center fielder Tyson Gillies' RBI double for a 1-0 lead.
Right fielder Tyler Henson led off the sixth with a single and eventually scored on second baseman Reid Brignac's sacrifice fly.
Right-handed starter Jonathan Pettibone (2-0, 3.38 ERA) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two in 5 1/3 innings. He would have to settle for a no-decision.
Brignac delivered the game-winning run on a solo home run with two outs in the 11th.
The win evened the IronPigs' record at 16-16. Lehigh Valley will look for a series split in the finale on Thursday.
Reading Fightin Phils – Double A
The Fightin Phils used a six-run sixth to surge past the Portland Sea Dogs, 8-3, at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, Pa.
Left-handed starter Hoby Milner (1-2, 5.19 ERA) broke into the win column due to his strong seven inning effort. He gave up two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three. He served up two solo home runs.
An all-around effort fueled the Reading offense as eight runs were scored on 14 hits, including a two-run home run by catcher Lars Davis that capped off the six-run sixth.
Center fielder Aaron Altherr (2-for-4) also knocked in two runs. Third baseman Carlos Alonso (2-for-5) and left fielder Cam Perkins (2-for-4) both doubled and scored twice.
The Fightin Phils moved a game above .500 at 15-14. Reading now faces a seven-game road trip, beginning with a four-game series with the Trenton Thunder. Righty Perci Garner (3-1, 2.48 ERA) will get the ball in the opener on Thursday.
Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced
The Threshers had a pair of one-run leads, but lost to the Dunedin Blue Jays, 6-3, at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin, Fla.
Center fielder Peter Lavin his a solo home run in the top of the first for a quick lead. It was Lavin's fourth blast of the season.
Trailing 2-1 in the fourth, first baseman Art Charles and designated hitter Andrew Knapp hit back-to-back doubles to even the score. Catcher Logan Moore would follow with an RBI single for a 3-2 lead.
Right-handed starter Brody Colvin (0-2, 9.00 ERA) couldn't hold either lead and suffered the loss. He was charged with five runs on six hits and two walks in four-plus innings.
The Threshers fell to 7-23 on the season. The series will continue Thursday in Clearwater as righty Jon Prosinski (0-2, 6.08 ERA) takes the mound.
Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A
The BlueClaws were crushed by the Kannapolis Intimidators, 10-2, at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood Township, N.J.
Right-handed starter Drew Anderson (1-2, 6.28 ERA) was rocked and took the loss. He surrendered eight runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks in 3 2/3 innings.
Shortstop J.P. Crawford had a strong game from the leadoff spot. He went 2-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a strikeout. However, Crawford did commit his sixth error of the season.
The loss dropped the BlueClaws to 12-19. The series continues Thursday as righty Ranfi Casimiro (1-3, 9.00 ERA) is slated to make the start for Lakewood.
