BALTIMORE - Travis Hafner hit a grand slam and Fausto Carmona allowed one unearned run in seven innings, and the Cleveland Indians beat the Baltimore Orioles, 10-1, yesterday to earn a split of the four-game series.

The Indians broke open a tie game with a four-run seventh inning before Hafner hit his ninth career grand slam in the eighth off Jamie Walker. Jhonny Peralta added a solo shot in the ninth.

Grady Sizemore doubled in the tiebreaking run in the seventh, and Trot Nixon capped the burst with a two-run single. Nixon's three-hit game followed a 5-for-5 performance on Sunday.

Mariners 3, Yankees 2

NEW YORK - Adrian Beltre hit a tiebreaking homer off Mariano Rivera in the ninth inning, and Seattle took advantage of a blown call to beat New York.

A late rally gave Seattle a four-game split at Yankee Stadium and cost Matt DeSalvo a win in an impressive major-league debut.

New York got seven innings of three-hit ball from DeSalvo.
