Minor Leagues | Cats beat Thunder, 3-2

TRENTON - Matt Allegra hit a home run and drove in all three runs as the New Britain Rock Cats beat the Trenton Thunder, 3-2, in the Eastern League last night.

The loss was the fifth straight for Trenton, which had opened the season with 10 consecutive wins.

Connecticut 5, Reading 2

NORWICH, Conn. - Jake Wald was 3 for 5 and scored three runs to lead the Defenders past the Phillies in the Eastern League.

Geno Espeneli allowed one earned run in five innings. Alex Hinshaw and Brian Anderson combined to strike out eight in four scoreless innings.

The Phillies managed just six hits. Jesus Merchan was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Louisville 2, Ottawa 1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Phil Dumatrait allowed only one unearned run and scattered six hits over six innings to lead the Bats past the Lynx in the International League.

Greensboro 6, Lakewood 3

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Kyle Drabek allowed just two hits and a run in 72/3 innings to give the BlueClaws a split of the South Atlantic League doubleheader.

Drabek, the Phillies' No. 1 draft pick last June, struck out seven to improve to 3-0.

Adrian Cardenas homered in the two-run first for Lakewood.

Wilmington 7, Lynchburg 4

WILMINGTON - Kila Kaaihue was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs and Wilver Perez was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs as the Blue Rocks beat the Hillcats in the Carolina League.

York 6, Camden 2

The Revolution scored five unearned runs in the ninth to beat the Riversharks in the Atlantic League at Campbell's Field.
