Giambi told a grand jury during the Balco investigation in December 2003 that he used steroids and human growth hormone, the San Francisco Chronicle reported in December 2004.

Giambi yesterday refused to talk about the USA Today story.

Roger Clemens threw 58 pitches in four innings for single-A Tampa as he prepares to rejoin the New York Yankees. The Rocket will pitch for the Trenton Thunder on Wednesday in Riverfront Park.

Minnesota reliever Jesse Crain will miss the rest of the season with a right shoulder injury.
