Giants owner Peter Magowan and general manager Brian Sabean also attended the services.

A three-time all-star who saved 286 games, Beck was found dead in his home on Saturday. He was 38. Police do not suspect foul play, and the medical examiner is awaiting results of toxicology tests to establish the cause of death.

Randy Johnson was activated from the 15-day disabled list ahead of his start for the Arizona Diamondbacks against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Johnson, 43, was placed on the disabled list June 15 because of muscle tightness in his buttocks. He also was diagnosed with a herniated disk in his back.

Detroit Tigers slugger Gary Sheffield had his three-game suspension reduced to two games by Major League Baseball. Sheffield was ejected May 31 at Cleveland for arguing balls and strikes.

San Diego Padres rightfielder Brian Giles was activated from the 15-day disabled list after missing just over a month with a bone bruise in his right knee.

Cleveland Indians left fielder David Dellucci had surgery to remove a torn tendon from his left hamstring. The former Phillie is expected to return this season.

The Indians waived Roberto Hernandez, a 42-year-old former Phillie whose 326 saves are 11th on the career list.

Justin Morneau returned to the Minnesota Twins six days after bruising his right lung in a home-plate collision.
