Roy Halladay's bobblehead, Ryan Howard's lawn gnome

Tuesday night was Roy Halladay bobblehead night at Citizens Bank Park, coincidentally corresponding with a Halladay start. Before the game, Shane Victorino, David Herndon, and Juan Castro proudly displayed Halladay bobbleheads in their lockers.

All things considered, the Halladay bobble bears a decent enough resemblance to the real Halladay. The beard is there. But he looks to be cracking a bit of a smile, which rarely ever happens on the mound.

There have been bobbleheads that looked far, far worse.

And then there is this: On Aug. 3, the Reading Phillies will be giving away Ryan Howard lawn gnomes to the first 2,500 fans. The thing is just downright creepy. The figurine is a gray-bearded Howard on one knee with an R-Phils wizard hat on.

So what alter-ego creature would best suit Halladay? We're thinking a Robot Roy, complete with an evil, maniacal laugh for anyone who dares cross his path.

By the way, the Phillies have one more bobblehead giveaway - Carlos Ruiz on Aug. 24. There's also a Chase Utley action figurine coming July 25. But no Placido Polanco bobble for the Polanco Heads fan club or a bearded Jayson Werth one. For shame.

The latest wave of Apple technology has entered the Phillies' clubhouse. Catcher Brian Schneider, outfielder Ben Francisco, and infielder Greg Dobbs all have iPads and constantly are using them in the clubhouse before games.

"It's really cool," Dobbs said.
