Phillies set spring-training schedule

The Phillies will host the Pittsburgh Pirates on March 29 and 30 at Citizens Bank Park in the annual On Deck Series that wraps up spring training.

Those games are on a Tuesday and Wednesday with baseball moving the opening of the regular season to Thursday, March 31, this season.

The Phillies, whose regular season begins Friday, April 1 at home against Houston, open Grapefruit League play against the Yankees on Feb. 26 in Tampa. The first game at Bright House Field in Clearwater is Feb. 27, also against the Yankees.

Including split-squad games, the Phillies will play 16 games in Clearwater, including the Florida finale on March 28 against Houston. The team has only one off day, March 16.
