Pitching matchup: Phillies RHP Joe Blanton (1-2, 5.50) vs. Rockies RHP Jhoulys Chacin (4-2, 2.89)

BLANTON vs. ROCKIES: Blanton is looking to get into a groove for the first time this season. He has lasted just five innings in both of his starts since returning from the disabled list and a bout with elbow soreness. Last week against the Braves he allowed two first-inning home runs but held them scoreless for the rest of his outing. Blanton faced the Rockies twice last season, allowing six runs in 4 innings on Sept. 2 and two runs in six innings on July 26. The Phillies won both games.

PHILLIES vs. CHACIN: They faced the 23-year-old Chacin twice last season, including a start in September in which they scored three runs in 5 innings (only one of the runs was earned). Their other outing against him came in a July relief appearance in which he pitched 1 scoreless innings, striking out two with one walk.

FYI: The Phillies entered yesterday with a 19-0 record when leading after seven innings.
