7:05, Citizens Bank Park. TV: Comcast SportsNet. Radio: WPHT (1210-AM); WUBA (1480-AM) Spanish.

Pitching matchup: RHP Randy Wells (1-1, 5.74) vs. RHP Kyle Kendrick (3-4, 3.78)

KENDRICK vs. CUBS: Kendrick, who is making his first start since replacing Vance Worley (who replaced Joe Blanton), has never started against the Cubs. He faced them once last season in relief, pitching a scoreless inning while allowing a double. Kendrick allowed four runs on eight hits in five innings of a 6-3 loss to the Pirates last week. He made a couple of spot starts earlier in the season, one good (five scoreless innings against the Braves), one not so good (five runs in three innings against the Rockies).

PHILLIES vs. WELLS: Wells has struggled to regain the form he displayed in posting a 3.05 ERA in 27 starts during his rookie year in 2009. He has only started three games this season, and has allowed at least four runs in fewer than six innings in the last two. But Wells excelled against the Phillies last July, holding them to seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in seven scoreless innings of a game the Phils would come back to win, 4-1.

FYI: The Phillies entered last night with a 25-6 record in games in which they hit at least one home run.

Sunday vs. Cubs: RHP Roy Oswalt (3-4, 3.05) vs. LHP Doug Davis (0-5, 6.38)
