The Phillies claimed lefthanded pitcher Maurico Robles off waivers from the Seattle Mariners on Friday.

The 23-year-old Robles is 31-35 with a 4.15 ERA in seven minor league seasons. He went 2-5 with a 5.78 ERA in 43 games between Double A Jackson and Triple A Tacoma in 2012, striking out 69 while walking 63 in 71 2/3 innings.

Robles was designated for assignment by Seattle earlier this month when the Mariners signed former All-Star outfielder Jason Bay.

The Phillies announced that nine other players will go to spring training as nonroster invitees: infielders Michael Martinez, Pete Orr, Josh Fields and Andres Blanco; catchers Steven Lerud and Humberto Quintero; righthanded pitcher Zach Miner, lefthander Cesar Jimenez and outfielder Jermaine Mitchell.
