THE HALLADAY Family Foundation, the Phillies and Citizens Bank have announced the 2013 Phans Feeding Families program.
Philabundance, the Delaware Valley's largest hunger relief organization, received a check for $40,000 from the Citizens Bank Foundation, as part of the program. Philabundance, in its third year, has raised money and collected food to provide nearly 400,000 meals in the region. The foundation donated $122,500 in total.
"It's overwhelming just how many families struggle for food each day," said Brandy Halladay, wife of Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay, on behalf of the Halladay Family Foundation. "We're honored to join Citizens Bank, Philabundance and the Phillies community in doing whatever we can to support this great cause."
There are several ways fans can help:
* Buy a limited-edition Phans Feeding Families pin, either online at philabundance.org/feedingfamilies or in mid-July at the Majestic Clubhouse Store and Phillies NewsStands at Citizens Bank Park. Each $5 pin provides seven meals for families.
* Buy a "Party with a Purpose" ticket package for Phans Feeding Families Day on Aug. 17. Roy Halladay will make an appearance at a pregame event. Each $75 ticket provides 50 meals. Season-ticketholders can buy a tent party ticket for $55.
* Bring a donation of nonperishable food to Citizens Bank Park or SEPTA's AT&T Station during Phans Feeding Families food drives on July 13, Aug. 8 and Aug. 17.
* Bid on exclusive merchandise and VIP experiences - including a breakfast with the Phillie Phanatic and luncheon with general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. - through a silent auction during Phans Feeding Families Day on Aug. 17.
* Make an online donation at philabundance.org.
"The Phillies are proud to once again support Phans Feeding Families and to assist in solving the challenges that Philabundance faces with the region's hunger problem," Phillies president David Montgomery said. "This would not be possible without the support of our corporate partners, our fans and the Halladay family. Together, we hope to make a difference."
