Achilles' issue sidelines Phils' Brown
Domonic Brown was removed from an exhibition game because of left Achilles soreness.
TAMPA, Fla. - Domonic Brown was removed from last night's game against the Yankees before the bottom of the third inning with left Achilles' soreness.
Brown said he will see a doctor this morning. He has been bothered by the injury for the last 2 weeks.
The pain grew worse yesterday when he retreated to the rightfield fence in pursuit of a ball Chase Headley hit for a home run in the second inning.
"I want to be in there, spring training or not," said Brown, who was scratched from Monday's game due to dehydration. "I feel pretty good at the plate. I don't want to miss any time, but this is part of the game, also. I'm definitely frustrated for sure. It seemed like we were going in the right direction, it was getting a little bit better."
Brown went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts before being pulled from last night's game. He's hitting .241 (7-for-29) in 11 games this spring.
Brown said his dehydration issues earlier this week were likely related to the Achilles' injury.
"I doubled up on the anti-inflammatories the other day and got dehydrated," he said. "I think that kind of had something to do with it."
