Biddle earns first win of season

Jesse Biddle earned his first win of the season for Class A Clearwater Sunday after an 0-2 start with three no-decisions.

Biddle allowed two earned runs in six innings as the Threshers went on to beat the visiting Charlotte Stone Crabs, 10-7. Three Clearwater relievers allowed five runs over three innings.

Biddle, the 2010 first-round pick from Germantown Friends, gave up three hits, walked two and struck out five. He left the game with the Threshers holding a 9-2 lead.

He had been removed from his last start for precuationary reasons after two batters Tuesday because he was struck by a line drive to the left forearm.

He entered the game a 5.60 ERA, having allowed 17 runs (11 earned) in 17 2/3 innings. He had give up 22 hits, walked nine and struck out 20.

With the win, he pushed his career record to 12-11.
