Fightin Phils' Jesse Biddle named Eastern League Player of the Month

Reading Fightin Phils starting pitcher Jesse Biddle was named the Eastern League Player of the Month for April on Tuesday. The left-handed pitcher had an impressive 40 strikeouts and 12 walks in 31 innings for the month.

Biddle's 2-1 record for the April also included a 1.74 ERA and a 0.77 WHIP. In each April outing, he pitched no less than six innings. Biddle's start against Harrisburg on April 22 lasted 7 innings as he struck out 16 in the 3-2 win for the Fightins.

The Phillies prospect led the Eastern League pitchers in strikeouts (40) as well as batting average against (.114) for the month. In those 31 innings he pitched in April he only allowed 13 hits.

His next start for the Fightins is set for Thursday night against the Akron Aeros.
