Phillies' Chase Utley to have MRI

Phillies second baseman will have a MRI exam in the wake of injuring his rib cage Tuesday.

Phillies second baseman Chase Utley will have an MRI exam on his injured rib cage, according to CSNPhilly.com.

Utley felt pain in his side during batting practice before Tuesday night's game in Miami. He could go to the disabled list as a result.

"When he took a swing, he kind of felt a little burn, a pain in his rib cage," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said Tuesday. "Sometimes if you keep playing (on it), that can, the rib cage, you can tear that and it can keep getting longer and it can be serious, you can lose some time. I've had that. It's hard to breathe, really hard to swing."

It's likely that Utley will miss Wednesday's game, but it's not clear how much longer than that he would be out.
