Here's how the Phillies' minor league teams fared on Tuesday, Sept. 1:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs (62-76) – Triple A

Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez posted a shaky outing and the IronPigs opened the month of September with a 10-2 loss to the Pawtucket Red Sox at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I.

Gonzalez (0-1, 15.00 ERA) allowed five runs on six hits in only three innings.

Jason Berken took the mound in relief of Gonzalez and gave up four runs on five hits in only one inning, which contributed to the IronPigs trailing Pawtucket, 9-2, after four frames.

The IronPigs weren't able offer much in the way of run support, as they recorded only four hits, two of which came from Tyler Pastornicky. Pastornicky was responsible for one of Lehigh Valley's runs with a solo home run in the first.

Russ Canzler put up the team's final run during the fourth with a solo homer.

The IronPigs look to bounce against the Red Sox at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday. Severino Gonzalez (2-6, 5.03 ERA) is scheduled to start.

Reading Fightin Phils (78-57) – Double-A

The Fightin Phils came up short in their bid to clinch a division title after a 7-6 loss to the Binghamton Mets at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading.

Despite the loss, the Fightin Phils still only need one win over the Mets (74-61) in order to lock up the Eastern League's Eastern Division.

The Fightin Phils' loss came after Stephen Shackleford allowed two runs in the top of the ninth that broke a 5-5 tie. The Fightin Phils closed the gap after Andrew Knapp grounded into a force out, which allowed KC Serna to cross the plate.

Unfortunately for Reading, Art Charles was called out on strikes during the next at-bat to end the game.

Knapp helped the Fightin Phils jump out to an early lead with a two-run homer in the first. Knapp was one of five Fightin Phils (Serna, J.P. Crawford, Destin Hood and Angelo Mora) to record two hits.

Dylan Cozens' lone hit resulted in a solo homer during the fourth.

Ben Lively didn't pick up the decision after giving up four runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. The decision went to Shackleford (4-2, 3.82 ERA) after coughing up the winning runs in the ninth.

The Fightin Phils will have another chance to clinch the division at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday. Joely Rodriguez (5-3, 5.20 ERA) is slated to start.

Clearwater Threshers (76-57) – Class A Advanced

The Threshers split a doubleheader with the Daytona Tortugas, winning the first game 3-2, but dropping the second by a score of 3-0 at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.

Rhys Hoskins and Malquin Canelo led the Threshers' effort in Game 1 by hitting solo homers in the fourth and eighth innings respectively.

Canelo's homer broke a 2-2 tie and proved to be the game-winning run. Both Canelo and Carlos Tocci finished the game 2-for-3.

Victor Arano got a no decision after allowing two runs on six hits in five innings. Alberto Tirado (5-3, 2.75 ERA) picked up the win after pitching two scoreless innings in relief.

In Game 2, both teams' offenses struggled, as they combined for only six hits. Starter Matt Imhof (7-5, 4.09 ERA) gave up three runs (two earned) on two hits in three innings.

The Threshers will get to see plenty more of the Tortugas (73-58), as they clinched a playoff spot with the win and a date with the Threshers in the first round of the Florida State League playoffs. Game 1 of that series is set for Sept. 8 in Daytona, Fla.

Before then, however, the Threshers will receive a day off Wednesday before heading to Dunedin, Fla. to take on the Dunedin Blue Jays at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Ricardo Pinto (8-2, 2.45 ERA) will start for Clearwater.

Lakewood BlueClaws (70-62) – Class A

The BlueClaws used 16 hits to clinch their fifth straight victory and their first winning season since 2010 by way of a 9-0 drubbing of the Greensboro Grasshoppers at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro, N.C.

The BlueClaws wasted little time jumping ahead of the Grasshoppers by scoring five runs in the first inning and tagged Greensboro starter Enderson Franco for eight runs on 10 hits in 2 1/3 innings.

Cord Sandberg led the BlueClaws' offensive barrage by going 3-for-5 with four RBI, including a two-run homer during the fourth. Drew Stankiewicz also went 3-for-5 and scored a run.

Jose Mayorga, Jiandido Tromp, Kyle Martin and Damek Tomscha all recorded two hits. Tomscha also drove in a pair of runs.

Jairo Munoz (2-0, 2.51 ERA) helped the Lakewood pitching staff keep Greensboro off the scoreboard by striking out five in six innings.

Zach Morris picked up his first save of the season by striking out six over the course of three frames.

The BlueClaws will look for their sixth win in a row and a five-game sweep of the Grasshoppers at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Shane Watson (1-5, 4.19 ERA) is scheduled to start for Lakewood.

Williamsport Crosscutters (44-26) – Class A-Short Season

A rough start for Jose Taveras led to the Crosscutters suffering an 8-4 loss to the Auburn Doubledays at Susquehanna Bank Park in Williamsport.

Taveras (7-3, 3.65 ERA) was hit up for five runs on eight hits in only four innings.  The Crosscutters allowed 14 hits overall.

Jesus Posso and Brendon Hayden led the Crosscutters offensively by both going 2-for-4. Dylan Bosheers drove in two runs while Greg Brodzinski drove in one.

The Crosscutters will look to bounce back at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday when they open a three-game series against the West Virginia Black Bears (37-33), who are tied atop the wild card standings with the State College Spikes, at Monongalia County Ballpark in Granville, W. Va.

Franklyn Kilome (3-2, 2.47 ERA) is slated to start for Williamsport.

While the Black Bears are fighting for their playoff lives, the Crosscutters are still trying to secure the best record in the New York-Penn League for the very first time.
