The Phillies appear to be looking at Michael Young of the Texas Rangers to help bolster their infield.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the Phillies and Rangers are in "advanced talks" for a trade that would bring Young to Philadelphia in exchange for "a minor-league pitcher."

The Inquirer's Bob Brookover wrote Thursday morning that the pitcher in question could be Michael Schwimer.

If the deal is completed, the Rangers would pay for a large portion of the $16 million Young is owed in outstanding salary.

The 36-year-old is the all-time hits leader in Rangers history with 2,230. He is a seven-time All-Star, with the most recent honor coming in 2011.

Young also won a Gold Glove in 2008, and has played multiple infield positions over the course of his career. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reported Thursday morning that the Phillies want to make Young the team's starting third baseman.

This past season, Young recorded a .277 batting average with 169 hits, and drove in 67 runs. He is a career .301 hitter, averaging 198 hits and 87 RBI per season.
