The Sixers (5-3) will start the regular season on the road Wednesday when they visit the defending Eastern Conference champion Orlando Magic.

Rookie Terrence Williams had 23 points and eight assists and Yi Jianlian had 22 points to lead the Nets in their preseason finale. The Nets (1-6) open the season Wednesday night at Minnesota.

The Nets led by 25 points in the fourth quarter of the game played at St. John's Carnesecca Arena in Jamaica, N.Y. The Sixers missed their first seven shots of the game and the Nets ended the first quarter with a 26-18 lead.

Williams, a first-round draft pick from Louisville, had an assist on Jarvis Hayes' three-pointer and then stole the ball from Lou Williams, racing down court for a onehanded dunk. He then had a ball tipped to him on a jump ball and fed Courtney Lee with a behind-the-head pass for a dunk in the third quarter.

* The NBA and its referees union reached agreement on a 2-year contract, ending a lockout of more than a month and saving the league from using replacements when the season starts. The officials ratified the deal that was reached earlier this week in a vote last night. No details of the vote were provided, nor were terms of the agreement.

* Former Sixer Allen Iverson vows to take the advice of others instead of listening to his body. That means the 10-time All-Star is likely to miss Memphis' season opener Wednesday night against Detroit as he recovers from a partly torn left hamstring.

* The Washington Wizards announced that Antawn Jamison (right shoulder) is likely to miss the first eight to 13 games.
